The University of Iceland opens its doors on University Day, Saturday 28 February 2026 from 12 to 15 p.m. Presentations of study programmes take place in three University buildings, in Askja, in the University Centre and in Saga.
It is not only students and staff who reside on the university campus - a large flock of Greylag Geese lives here too. These geese aren't wild birds in the traditional sense; instead, they've adapted their behaviour to city life and live in close proximity to humans.
Knowledge creation is a priority at UI – research conducted at the University has a broad impact and addresses many complex challenges currently facing Iceland and the world.
