On 24 February 2026, the GRÓ GEST programme at the University of Iceland marked the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine with the opening of the international exhibition Unissued Diplomas: Never Graduated, Eternally Honoured.

Human rights backlash, the interplay between artificial intelligence and gender equality and freedom of gender, the inclusion of neurodivergent students and students of diverse origins in universities are among the topics during the annual Equality Days taking place from 9 to 12 February in Icelandic universities.

Representatives from the University in Coimbra, Portugal visited the University of Iceland 3 - 4 May. The visit is part of Gender@UC the university collaboration in the field of gender equality.

Equality days will take place 14-18 February; mostly online. The programme tackles equality matters from diverse angles.

Representatives from the University of Iceland visited the University of Coimbra earlier this September to take part in a conference under the auspices of the Gender@UC project.
