Introduction to project Terraforming LIFE, tuesday October 7th. The event is organised by the Engineering Research Institute.
Terraforming LIFE is an innovative project developing a new method to produce organic fertilizer and biogas from fish sludge and livestock manure. Its mission is to strengthen Iceland’s circular economy, reduce waste disposal costs, decrease reliance on imported fertilizers and support sustainable agriculture. The project is carried out by the land-based aquaculture company First Water, the Icelandic Farmers’ Association, Orkídea, the Ölfus Cluster, and SMJ. It is funded by LIFE, the European Union’s funding programme for environment and climate action. Sigurður Trausti Karvelsson, R&D Project Manager at First Water, will present Terraforming LIFE.
