The Icelandic Center of Inequality Studies will officially open on October 10th at 1:30 PM in the Edda 103 lecture hall. The purpose of the center is to use the best data and methods that the social sciences have to offer to analyze inequality in four areas; health, education, gender/family, and finally the environment.
Silja Bára Ómarsdóttir, Rector of the University of Iceland, will officially open the research center.
Jason Beckfield, Professor of Sociology at Harvard University, will give an opening speech focusing on issues related to just energy transition. Jason is a former advisor on just energy transition to Pete Buttigieg's former US Minister of Transport.
Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson, Minister of the Environment, Energy, and Climate, will give an address on policymaking about a just energy transition with an emphasis on the interaction between research and policymaking.
The event will close with panel discussion. Refreshments are provided after the formal event.
The event is open to all.
