Mushrooms are a delicacy and what is great about them is that the grow wild in Icelandic nature; especially in wooded areas such as Heiðmörk. It is, however, vital to know the good ones from the bad and the poisoned!
Gísli Már Gíslason and Ólafur Patrick Ólafsson, University lecturer, welcome participants with an entourage of specialists from the University.
In this adventurous mushroom trip, methods for preserving the mushrooms and preparing them will also be taught. Everyone is encouraged to bring mushroom books and containers.
Participants will drive togehter from the parking lot at Rauðhólar further into Heiðmörk.
The tour is a collaboration between the Icelandic Touring Association and the University of Iceland. Hiking trips with Science tips.
Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome. No need to book - simply show up!
