AI at the University of Iceland: Status, Attitudes, and Future Prospects
Timing: February 19th from 13:00–15:00
Location: Saga, room S-261 (Streaming will also be available)
Artificial intelligence is decisively transforming the landscape of higher education. But what is the actual experience of those at the helm?
In this seminar, the results of an extensive survey conducted among teachers at the University of Iceland during the summer and autumn of 2025 will be presented. We will examine the data, listen to teachers' voices, and discuss how the university can respond.
The seminar will cover:
- UI’s new policy on AI: Presentation of the policy on artificial intelligence and access to guidelines.
- Teachers' Voices – Survey Results: A review of how teachers utilize AI in their work today, whether they view it as an opportunity or a threat, and where the primary challenges lie in daily teaching.
- Future Prospects: What support are teachers calling for, and how can the university meet their needs to strengthen academic work?
- Panel and Open Discussion: Ample time will be provided for questions and dialogue regarding these important issues.
A more detailed agenda will be announced closer to the date.
The seminar is an ideal platform for everyone concerned with university teaching, technological development, and the future of education.
The seminar organizers and researchers are Ásta Bryndís Schram, Bethany Louise Rogers, Hafsteinn Einarsson, María Kristín Bjarnadóttir, and Sigurbjörg Jóhannesdóttir.
We look forward to seeing you at Saga!
