Recent research on salmonids in Iceland
Thom Dekkers and Arnar Pálsson.
Salmonids colonized the arctic after the last ice age, and after subdivision, acclimation and adaptation they inhabit many diverse freshwater habitats. They present useful systems to tackle questions about ecological processes and rapid evolution. The talk summarizes progress on several research projects, ranging from patterns of craniofacial diversity, agreement of mtDNA and nuclear gene phylogenies, gene flow in sympatry and mapping of sex linked genes.
This is a Friday biology seminar.
