Dr. Wendy Chapkis is a Presidential Scholar and Professor Emeritus of Gender Studies and Sociology at the University of Southern Maine. She is the author of three books: Beauty Secrets: Women and the Politics of Appearance (Cassell); Live Sex Acts: Women Performing Erotic Labor (Routledge); and Dying to Get High: Marijuana as Medicine (New York University Press). She is also the founder of the Querying the Past LGBTQ Oral History Project.
