Potential Influence of Mindfulness Training on Educators’ Occupational Well-being in their Multi-dimensional Professional Roles
The main objective of this PhD project is to examine whether a systematic implementation of mindfulness training as a whole-school approach in compulsory schools can enhance educators’ well-being, mental health, and social and emotional competence. The study places flourishing at the centre of educational aims and highlights teachers’ flourishing as foundational to the development of flourishing educational systems.
The evaluation consists of two parts:
First, the doctoral student’s presentation of her report will take place from 1–2 pm in room S-285 in Saga. This presentation is open to postgraduate students and staff of the School of Education. It will also be available on Teams: Join the meeting now
Second, a review meeting will be held to discuss the report. This meeting is open only to the doctoral student and the evaluation committee.
The purpose of the evaluation, as outlined in the rules of the Doctoral School, is twofold: to assess the doctoral student’s competence in carrying out the proposed research project, and to provide them with feedback to support them in doing so as effectively as possible.
External examiners are Dr Birna María Brattberg Svanbjörnsdóttir Associate professor at the University of Akureyri, og Dr Tyralynn Frazier adjunct at Emory University, United States.
Main supervisor is Dr Ólafur Páll Jónsson professor at the School of Education, University of Iceland, co-supervisor Dr Kristján Kristjánsson professor at the University of Birmingham, The doctoral committee expert is Dr Kristján Ketill Stefánsson Associate professor at the University of Iceland. Dr Amalía Björnsdóttir is heading the evaluation committee and will conduct the evaluation meeting.
