The Political Science Association and the Institute of Public Administration and Politics at the University of Iceland are pleased to host a panel discussion at the University of Iceland about the rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape of the Arctic.

With Greenland back in the global headlines and under renewed pressure from the United States, the question of who governs the North has never been more relevant. This panel will examine how Greenland navigates its own strategic path toward independence amidst intensifying external pressures and high-stakes global rhetoric. Together with Greenland’s Representative to Iceland and expert scholars, we will discuss the on-the-ground realities of Greenlandic self-determination and also how China and Russia are positioning themselves to influence the future of Arctic governance.

    Panelists:
Karsten Peter Jensen, Head of Representation, Greenland Representation in Reykjavík
Guðbjörg Ríkey Th. Hauksdóttir, PhD Candidate in Political Science, University of Iceland
Vilborg Ása Guðjónsdóttir, PhD Candidate in Political Science, University of Iceland

    Moderator:
    Bogi Ágústsson, News Reporter

Please join us for a lively discussion. The discussion will take place in English and is open to everyone.
