The seminar will present a new video on the Department of Anthropology’s research in Guinea-Bissau across anthropology and global studies. In the video, four researchers are interviewed about their doctoral studies: Hamadou Boiro, PhD in anthropology, discusses his research on the education of Quranic schoolboys in Guinea-Bissau; Fatou N’dure Babodóttir, PhD in Global Studies, talks about her research on teenagers in the capital, Bissau, and the impact of inequality on their lives; Jon Edmund Bollom, PhD student in Global Studies, presents his research among university students. In addition, collaborators in Bissau are interviewed about their involvement in the research and their relations with the University of Iceland: Dr Aladje Baldé, Professor and Rector of Jean Piaget University of Bissau; William Gomes Ferreira, Pro-Rector of the University; and Dr Zeca Jandi, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences in Guinea-Bissau (INEP). In addition, Jónína Einarsdóttir, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology, and Geir Gunnlaugsson, Professor Emeritus of Global Health, talk about the beginning of the research and its implementation. After the screening, Jónína and Geir, along with Fatou and Jon Edmund, will discuss the video’s content and creation and answer questions.
