Digital Twins

The Engineering Research Institute invites you to a lecture by Professor George F. Fragulis from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. The title of the lecture is Digital Twins, Assistive Robotics and Eye-Tracking for Autism Spectrum Disorder Intervention

In this lecture, Professor Fragulis will present his research on the use of artificial intelligence, digital twins, assistive robotics and eye-tracking to support autism spectrum disorder identification and personalized intervention.

The presentation introduces The Digital Mirror, an AI framework that uses real-time biometric data to detect changes in an individual's state and support proactive interventions through autonomous robotics, such as the NAO robot. The lecture will also explore how machine learning and eye-tracking can identify subtle gaze patterns that may contribute to improved autism identification.Particular attention will be given to privacy, explainable AI and the collaboration between intelligent systems and human caregivers.

About the speaker

George F. Fragulis is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. His research interests include control theory, machine learning, robotics, autonomous systems and robotic vision. He has published over 160 papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences and has participated in 15 European and national R&D projects, including six Horizon 2020 projects. He is the recipient of four Best Paper Awards at international conferences
