The aim of the symposium is to create a platform for professional and critical discussion on the existing bill for new child protection legislation in Iceland. The emphasis is on examining the bill from the perspective of social work and law, with the aim of strengthening understanding of its impact on children's rights, the implementation and professional work in child protection, and cooperation between different systems. The symposium is a collaborative project between the Faculty of Social Work and the Faculty of Law of the University of Iceland, which highlights the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to the formulation and implementation of child protection legislation.
