Do you want to meet new people and sing together?
The university choir is looking for new members to sing on a trip abroad this summer.
The auditions will be held on Tuesday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 14 at 4.30 pm in the Main Building of the University of Iceland. If you're expecting to show up anytime after 6.00 pm, please let us know via kor@hi.is so we know you are coming. All voices are welcome!
About the choir:
The University Choir is an integral part of university life and comprises members from all universities in Reykjavík. The Choir sings at all the main events within the University of Iceland and performs on many other occasions, as well as hosting its own concerts. The repertoire is varied, featuring both Icelandic and non-Icelandic pieces, as well as classical and more contemporary music.
The Choir is also a very social group! We organise rehearsal camps, travels, and host countless social gatherings all year round. The choir is full of cool people and fun times, and we encourage everybody to come and check us out! Rehearsals are every Tuesday and Thursday at 5.15 to 7.30 pm.
Audition procedure:
People auditioning will be called in one by one, with only the choir conductor as well as representatives from the choir board present.
The aim of the audition is to hear your range and evaluate your singing ability. The conductor will go through some scales with you and ask you to sing one song (for international students ,often a well-known folk song from their country, e.g. Bruder Jakob/Frere Jacques). There is no requirement to prepare this song beforehand, but if you feel more comfortable doing so, you can.
