“Together we’re stronger”
Collaboration between the Icelandic Met Office and the University of Iceland in researching and monitoring natural hazards.
The University of Iceland and the Icelandic Met Office invite you to a briefing on Tuesday, January 20, between 2 and 4 p.m. in the University of Iceland’s Ceremonial Hall.
The meeting serves as an opportunity to promote the extensive and complex collaboration between UI and the Icelandic Met Office in researching, building infrastructure, and monitoring of natural hazards.
This collaboration plays a crucial role in supporting scientific knowledge, enhancing society’s level of preparedness, and ensuring that decisions related to public safety, infrastructure, and structures are based on sound data and research.
Speakers include Silja Bára R. Ómarsdóttir, Rector of the University of Iceland, and Hildigunnur H. H. Thorsteinsson, Director General of the Icelandic Met Office. The event will include information about the Icelandic Met Office doctoral grant, as well as presentations of selected collaborative projects that demonstrate how education, research, and monitoring come together to the benefit of society.
The meeting is organised by the collaborative committee for the agreement between UI and IMO on teaching and research.
A more detailed program will be advertised later.
