Reykjavík Botanic Garden
Dwelling is a group exhibition of works by MFA students at the Iceland University of the Arts, located in the Reykjavík Botanic Garden in Laugardalur. The curators are MA and PhD students of Art History and Art Theory at the University of Iceland. The opening is March 22, from 15:00-17:00, and the exhibition will be open until Sunday, March 30. Opening hours are 10:00-15:00 every day.
The works touch on ideas of connections between humans and nature as well as the hidden reality of plants. The visitors‘ eyes are directed towards the unseen, either by drawing the hidden systems to the surface or bringing into the spotlight what tends to fall in the shadows. The artists in the exhibition have worked in close contact with the Reykjavík Botanic Garden and the life that is found there. They encounter nature as mankind‘s equal and look at what people can learn from their natural surroundings. The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to try and fit in with nature and re-examine the ideas they might have about vegetation and its life.
Participants are Berglind María Tómasdóttir, Irene Hrafnan Bermudez, Jeremias Rumpl, Lucrezia Costa, Marco Dorn, Mirjam Maekalle, Natalia Kasprzycka, Sarah Moore, Sepideh Safyari and Svend Holmboe Pedersen. Curators are Agnes Eir Jóhannsdóttir, Sigríður Regína Sigurþórsdóttir and Sunna Austmann Bjarnadóttir.
