The Icelandic Rectors' Conference consists of the rectors of recognised higher education institutions in Iceland. It provides a forum for consultation and cooperation between the institutions on matters of common interest relating to their activities and interests. These include, among other things, quality assurance, mutual recognition of studies and university admission requirements.
The Rectors' Conference provides opinions on matters referred to it by the Minister of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education or by individual higher education institutions. It also nominates representatives to various committees and councils.

The Rectors' Conference operates according to Article 26 of the Higher Education Act no. 63/2006.
The conference is a member of the European University Association (EUA) and the Nordic University Association (NUS).
