Students who have been accepted to participate in an Aurora-organised course or event abroad that entails a short physical mobility abroad can apply for an Aurora grant for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 10. Aurora grants are calculated according to the rules of Erasmus+ short-term grants.
- The subsistence grant is 79€ per day for days 1-10.
- The travel grant is between 395-530€, depending on the destination.
Students can apply for the Aurora grant here.
For applications to be valid, students must attach a transcript of records in English, with ranking. Additionally, students must attach the acceptance letter from the Aurora host university, unless otherwise stated.
Whether credits awarded for Aurora courses count towards students’ degree at the University of Iceland is a decision that must be made at faculty level. If the awarded credits cannot count toward a student’s degree, they should be recognised in a student’s diploma supplement. Therefore, students are encouraged to complete a learning agreement and have it approved by their faculty before the mobility takes place.
For the mobility to be eligible for funding, the course or other approved event must take place in person in the host country, and the student must fulfil the following criteria:
- The applicant is an active and registered student at the University of Iceland and must have paid the annual registration fee.
- Undergraduate students must have completed at least 30 ECTS at the University of Iceland before the mobility.
Exchange students, guest students, and students who are expected to graduate before the end of the course in question are not eligible for funding.
