Christmas University Concert: Hildur Vala and Jón Ólafsson at the School of Education.
'tis the season and important to slow down and enjoy before the festivities are upon us. Hildur Vala and Jón Ólafsson will bring us to the right place and iron away all stress with sweet, uplifting tones. The pair needs no introduction; Jón is one of Iceland's best pianists and musicians, and Hildur Vala is one of the leading singers, with a voice that is both enveloping and stunningly beautiful. Together, they take the audience to another (festive) level. So let us enjoy each other's company in the winter sun with joy in our hearts.
The concert takes place on 17 December at 12.15 in Skáli opposite the Háma cantine.
There will be a live stream from the concert and a recording will be made available afterwards. So whether you are in the city, out in the country or anywhere else in the world you can enjoy the wonderful sound from the University concert series and get a taste of the atmosphere on campus. The concert is open to all and free of charge.
The current University concert series began in autumn 2020 with a new emphasis, and artists from all genres have performed. There has been a successful live stream of all the concerts, and recordings can be found here.
Arnar Eggert Thoroddsen is the organiser and artistic director. He says he is guided by the slogan "University for all—Music for all." Arnar takes his slogan seriously and will reflect it in the programme.
