Edda
On November 13th, the birthday of manuscript collector Árni Magnússon, Árnastofnun hosts an annual lecture in his name.
This year, the lecture will be in English.
Åslaug Ommundsen, Professor of Medieval Latin Philology at the University of Bergen, will discuss new trends in manuscript studies, including both material and digital research methods. The emphasis will be on the study of manuscript fragments, with two fragmentary liturgical books in Latin, copied by Icelandic scribes, serving as reference points.
Åslaug leads one of the largest current research projects on medieval manuscripts in Europe.
The title of Åslaug’s lecture is: Parchment and pixels. Re-examining written cultural heritage.
The lecture will take place in Edda on November 13 at 17 and is open to everyone. Join us after the lecture for light snacks and drinks.
