The main responsibility of the Division of Operations and Resources (DOR) at the University of Iceland is to ensure the efficient and effective management of the university's physical, financial, and human resources to support its academic and administrative functions.
The Construction Division is responsible for building maintenance and renovations at UI and Facilities Management is responsible for their operations. The Department of Lots and Parking is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the UI campus.

The DOR has supervision with health and safety at UI, access control, security systems and security cameras. The division employs a project manager who also works with the Health and Safety Committee. Facilities Supervisors assume the role of Safety Officer for their respective buildings.
The DOR runs the website for health and safety, which has miscellaneous information and videos on health and safety.
The DOR monitors sustainability and environmental factors in the operations of UI, for example, electricity consumption, water consumption, waste disposal, etc. It also has supervision with the implementation of the Green Steps Program (a government-run initiative) and is responsible for compiling the UI's green accounting which is a tool for measuring the institution's carbon footprint from its operations.

- Indoor and outdoor painting and decorating
- Purchasing and maintenance of furniture and other amenities

- inspections and monitoring of buildings

Facilities Supervisors are employed at the Facilities Supervision department and their responsibilities are various, but not limited to: various assistance to staff and other users of UI buildings, communications with cleaning contractors, inspections and the monitoring of buildings, health and safety issues, and they are Safety Officers for the respective buildings.

Facilities Operations is responsible for all operations in UI's buildings in general. Some of its projects include: rental contracts, contracts with various servicing contractors, supervision of room bookings, and the monitoring and supervision of general building utilization at UI. It manages the university's shared electric cars which staff can book to carry out work-related errands in the capital area, and also manages the UI Sports Facilities.

The UI Gymnasium is open to all students and staff for a modest fee. The Gym offers scheduled group lessons in the hall and fitness suite facilities. Groups can also hire the hall, for example, for ball games or other sports. For hiring the Sports Hall, contact operations manager.
