Division of Human Resources help the University of Iceland maintain a dynamic, efficient, and supportive workplace, contributing to the overall mission of the institution. The Human Resources Policy serves as a frame of reference for the Division of Human Resources.
The Division of Human Resources is responsible for:
- Personnel issues, and the execution of the UI human resource policy
- Supervision and counsel about issues pertaining to the rights and duties of staff

The Payroll department is part of the Division of Human Resource. The role of the Payroll department is to ensure that all students as well as faculty and staff employees of the University of Iceland are accurately paid, payment is completed in a timely manner, and all payroll transactions are properly and routinely recorded on a timely basis. The Payroll department also actively monitors compliance with collective agreements and laws and regulations regarding payroll.
Deadlines
All signed employee contracts, payment requests, and documents regarding wages should be handed in no later than the 15th day of each month. This is to ensure that all registration of salary is finished in a timely manner, to be paid on the 1st of every month.

Director of the Division
The HR division is responsible for supporting both university managers and staff to ensure a productive, positive, and legally compliant working environment. Their key responsibilities include:

- Creating and enforcing HR policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with labor laws, university policies, and employment standards.
Diversity and Inclusion
- Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the university.
- Implementing initiatives and programs to support a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Employee Well-being
- Supporting employee wellness programs and initiatives.
- Providing resources for mental and physical health.
Administrative Support
- Handling HR-related administrative tasks and maintaining employee records.
- Managing HR information systems and ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
