Guidelines for those who come from abroad to study or work at the University of Iceland while COVID-19 restrictions apply

Registration

Everyone entering the country must register on the Civil Protection website beforehand.

Note: You must have registered no more than 72 hours before entering the country.

Testing

As of 19 August 2020 (00.00) all arriving passengers can choose between a 14-day quarantine or a double testing procedure along with a quarantine for 5-6 days. 

The cost of testing is 9000 IKR if paid on registration but 11000 IKR if paid upon arrival. The second test is included.

Until the second test proves negative everyone is obligated to stay in quarantine.

Field trips

Staff and students coming from abroad must have the results from a second test before they can go on field trips.

Teachers running field trips will urge students to respect general epidemic prevention rules and to respect the two-metre rule as much as possible.

The Rakning app

Everyone is encouraged to install the COVID-19 tracing app, Rakning, on their phone and keep it there for 14 days at least.

Note: These guidelines apply to everybody coming from abroad, Icelanders and foreigners alike.
