Twelve students study at Stanford this summer

Twelve students from the University of Iceland will study at Stanford University this summer. as participants in the Stanford Summer International Honors Program (SSIHP). The summer programme takes eight weeks and all students take accredited courses that are evaluated at the University of Iceland. 

Four students received a scholarship this summer from Stanford and the University of Iceland for the studies. The grantees are Eir Andradóttir, student in medicine; Ísak Valsson, student in experimental physics, and Númi Sveinsson and Þórdís Tryggvadóttir, both students in mechanical engineering. Other university students going are Ágúst Páll Haraldsson, student in mathematics and statistics; Berglind Sigmarsdóttir, student in psychology; Fríða Snædís Jóhannesdóttir; student in computer science,;Guðrún Snorra Þórsdóttir, student in industrial engineering; Ingi Steinn Guðmundsson, student in software engineering; Kamilla Kjerúlf, law student; Lilja Brandsdóttir, student in business administration, and Saga Helgason Morris, student in Russian. This is the eighth year that students at the University of Iceland have this unique opportunity to go to this distinguished university, and the largest group yet.

The courses offered are diverse and the Icelandic students will benefit both from an intense educational experience while exploring academic life in an elite American research university.
