Open house, course promotion and all kinds of events

The University of Iceland opens its doors to the public on Saturday 2 March between 12 and 4 p.m. The open house features numerous events and presentations displaying science in a colourful and vibrant manner.

Visitors can acquaint themselves with the University’s varied curriculum, operation and service; see its laboratories, equipment and facilities up close. Research scientists and students from all University Faculties answer questions on just about anything! Student counsellors will be present for advice, and information on the manifold service and the colourful social life open to University students.

An example of diverse events are

  • Science cinema
  • Dance fever – the University Dance
  • The University Science Work Shop will be open from 1 – 3 p.m.
  • The explosive team will perform their magic in the University Cinema at 2 p.m.
  • Japanese dancing
  • Tai Chi and Lindy Hop
  • Volcano experts on the barbeque in Askja handing out grilled hot dogs
  • Create your own earthquake
  • The University Choir
  • Team Spark will be present with their latest race car
  • All kinds of activities – test your hand strength, do math with lego, play outside and much more

The presentation of the study programmes at each School of the University of Iceland will take place in three buildings on campus:

School of Social Sciences: University Centre (Háskólatorg), 2nd Floor
School of Health Sciences: University Centre (Háskólatorg), 2nd Floor
School of Education: University Centre (Háskólatorg), 2nd Floor
School of Humanities: Main Building
School of Engineering and Natural Sciences: Askja

The following universities will present their study programmes at the University Centre - 1st floor: University of Akureyri, Hólar University College, and the Agricultural University of Iceland, Bifrost University, Keilir – Atlantic Center of Excellence. Furthermore, the University of Iceland Continuing Education Institute (Endurmenntun) will have representatives there.

Reykjavik University will present their study programmes on their campus. The Iceland Academy of the Arts presents their study programmes at Laugarnesvegur 91. Free bus transfer is available.

This day is open to all and admission is free.
