Almost 450 candidates graduate from the University of Iceland on Saturday

A ceremony to mark the graduation of 444 candidates from graduate and postgraduate studies takes place in the University Cinema on Saturday 23 February at 1 p.m. 

Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector of the University of Iceland will address guests at the beginning of the ceremony. Then students from all of the five University schools; School of Social Sciences, School of Health Sciences, School of Humanities, School of Education and  School of Engineering and Natural Sciences will graduate. The total number of graduates is 444 with 445 diplomas. 180 candidates graduate from the School of Social Sciences, 42 from the School of Health Sciences, 73 from the School of Humanities, 69 from the School of Education, and 80 from the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Among the graduates are 313 women and 131 men.

After the graduation of all candidates Elísabet Brynjarsdóttir, president of the Student Council, will address the ceremony and the University choir will sing a few songs.

Graduation candidates will be seated in a specified area in Háskólabíó and are kindly asked to be there no later than at 12 noon. A list with the names of candidates and seat numbers will be distributed on graduation day and candidates receive their certificates according to their seat number. University staff will be on site and provide assistance.
