Introduction on studies and staff training abroad, rendezvous with former exchange students, music, dance, and movies are on the agenda during International Days this week. The aim of the International Days is to emphasise the various international opportunities for students, teachers and staff, which are made possible through the university’s active participation in international cooperation.

There will presentations on exchange studies, summer studies, and vocational training ongoing all week, both for individual schools or faculties, but also presentations open to all. Possibilities for independent studies abroad will be discussed as well as possibilities for Erasmus+ grants for University staff.
University students can learn about university studies in Sweden on Friday 26 October when six Swedish universities in collaboration with the University of Iceland present their programmes at the University Centre (Litla torg) from 12 to 16. Representatives from the Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborgs Universitet, Lunds Universitet, Linné Universitet, Umeå Universitet and Jönköpings Universitet will be present, and the Swedish musician Kristian Anttila will perform.

International Fair

The main event of the International Days is on Thursday 25 October at 11:30-13:30 at the University Centre. The fair presents a unique opportunity for students to learn about exchange studies, vocational training, and summer studies as well as independent studies abroad. Former and current exchange students, representatives from embassies, and numerous Icelandic institutes and organisations will be available for chats in the University Centre. University schools and faculties, as well as the members of staff of the International Office, will be present and provide information on studies abroad. University staff can also learn about possibilities of teacher and staff exchanges and other options within Erasmus+.

As always during International days there will be music and dance to set the mood. Dancers from Kramúsið will show Afrodance, Bjössi Sax will play and Rósana performs a belly dance. The lottery is an annual event where students have the possibility of winning flight tickets to Europe and there will be food tasting.

The following parties take part in the fair: The embassies of the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, France, India, Japan, Germany, Canada, Norway, Poland, Russia, and Sweden. The Consulates of Spain, The Faroe Islands, and Italy. The Fulbright institution, the UI International Office, Schools and Faculties within the University of Iceland, Rannís, UI Student and Career Counselling, SÍNE, The Norden Association, LÍN, The Northern Lights Institute, the Language Centre, AIESEC, ESN, The Delegation of the European Union to Iceland, the Union Council's international committee and exchange students.
