Programmes refer to the full studies and you take courses within the programme or elective courses from other programmes if the faculty approves of it.
Students at the University of Iceland do not pay tuition fees, but they do pay an annual registration fee. International applicants from countries outside the EEA/EFTA (except the Faroe Islands and Greenland) also pay a handling and processing fee.
You find information on teaching and semester dates in the academic calendar but note that dates vary between schools and faculties.
The application deadline for undergraduate and graduate studies for international students (other than exchange students) is 1 February.
The entrance exam for a BA program tests skills taught in Icelandic 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 at secondary education providers such as Mimir.
