The speaker for the first session is Ole Martin Sandberg, who recently completed his PhD in philosophy at the University of Iceland. Ole Martin Sandberg specializes in environmental and political philosophy. He has done research on embodied critical thinking, biodiversity, climate change, and evolution & ethics. He teaches at the University of Iceland and does research on the concept and value of biodiversity at the Icelandic Museum of Natural History. This event will be in English.

Staður og stund: February 2 at 15-16:30 in the UI's main building, room A220

Title and abstract: Interdisciplinary Research: Philosophy and Biodiversity

First I will give some reflections on the concept "interdisciplinary" - how it is used, what it often is in practice, and what I think it should be. Then I'll move on to a case and outline the interdisciplinary project I am currently working on at the Museum of Natural History: how we are working and the topic we are working on which involves philosophers (me) and biologists working together on investigating biodiversity from different perspectives.
