Why do the stars differ in colour, and why can you only sometimes see the Northern Lights? Sævar Helgi Bragason, connoisseur in astronomy at the University of Iceland, will answer questions on the Northern Lights, the stars and the Milky Way on a hike that is dedicated to the sky. It is necessary to dress warmly, bring binoculars, something to eat and a warm beverage. Takes approx. two hrs.

Please note if the weather is foul the tour will be postponed until better conditions. A new date will be advertised on Facebook and the website.

The tour is a collaboration between the Icelandic Touring Association and the University of Iceland. Hiking trips with Science tips (Með fróðleik í fararnesti).

Participants of all ages have enjoyed these hikes with the University of Iceland and the Icelandic Touring Association in recent years, which combine the experience and knowledge of the tour guides with the knowledge of academics. The aim is to create interest in science and outdoor activities, especially children and young people, with this welcome alternative.

Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome. No need to book - simply show up.
