Abstract

Increased awareness of the accumulation of waste in the world has opened the opportunity for a new market of packaging-free products. So far, there has been little faith in that service
thriving in low-cost supermarkets in Iceland. The project was carried out in collaboration with Krónan which is a low-cost supermarket that wants to be in the forefront of their sector
regarding environmental awareness. The aim of the project was to use the methods of Design Service to design a flowchart for the sale of unpackaged dry food in low-cost supermarkets
and to compare marketing solutions. A qualitative research was made in form of interviews.
Results and insights were presented graphically by using Service Design tools. Marketing solutions were selected based on the results from the research and a service flow chart that
considers customer experience and maximized resource utilization was designed. The author of the project considers this method to be well suited to the project and believes that the service designed has the potential to thrive in low-cost supermarkets.
