We will have a look at the beach's ecosystem, and what lies under stock and stones. The Grótta shore is home to diverse creatures; animals, birds and plants. Biologists from the University of Iceland will guide the tour.

Wellingtons and buckets are essential and a little something to nibble on is a good idea. The tour takes two-three hours.

The tour is a collaboration between the Icelandic Touring Association and the University of Iceland. Hiking trips with Science tips (Með fróðleik í fararnesti). Participants of all ages have enjoyed these hikes with the University of Iceland and the Icelandic Touring Association in recent years, which combine the experience and knowledge of the tour guides with the knowledge of academics. The aim is to create interest in science and outdoor activities, especially children and young people, with this welcome alternative.

Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome. No need to book - simply show up.
