
Those funds primarily supporting doctoral students are the Eimskip University Fund and the Doctoral Grants from the Research Fund. The funds have joint grant applications and the application deadline is 10th October each year. The Graduate Research Fund provides similar grants. The Icelandic Centre for Research is responsible for the fund. The application deadline is 14th March each year.
The University of Iceland Research Fund supports academic staff at the university through project grants, for instance in order to pay salaries to graduate studies.
Research Fund – Doctoral grants
Those eligible to apply include tenured lecturers or specialists working at the University of Iceland, who fulfil those requirements made of doctoral supervisors. It is also possible to apply after cooperation between supervisor and student commences. The application deadline is 10th October. The application form is the same as for the Eimskip Fund of the University of Iceland (in Icelandic only).
Eimskip University Fund
Those eligible to apply include doctoral students at the University of Iceland and tenured lecturers and specialists at the University of Iceland, who fulfil the requirements made of doctoral supervisors. In special instances master's students may apply for a grant. The application deadline is 10th October. The Eimskip fund of the University of Iceland (in Icelandic only).
Research Fund – Travel grants
Travel grants for master's and doctoral students at the University of Iceland. The grants are intended for attending conferences. The application deadline is 1st March. The travel grant application and further information (in Icelandic only).
University of Iceland Research Fund
The purpose of the University of Iceland Research Fund is to strengthen research activities within the university. The fund is managed by the University Council Science Committee , the chairperson of the committee is also the chairperson of the board of the fund. Grants are allocated once per year, and the application deadline is 10th October. Information regarding the University of Iceland Research Fund is in Icelandic.
