International Staff Training Days 10-12 May 2017






Welcome to the University of Iceland

The UI Staff Training Days will take place 10-12 May 2017. This year the programme is designed for university employees who work within the field of of internationalisation and marketing. The Staff Days are organised by the International Office in collaboration with the Division of Marketing and Public Relations and are open to university employees that work within these fields at their institution. We especially welcome colleagues from our partner universities.

The programme will include presentations and interactive workshops on themes related to internationalisation and marketing in both joint sessions and smaller working groups. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from the Schools and Faculties of the University of Iceland.

The Staff Days will give the participants the opportunity to develop personal and professional skills relating to internationalisation and marketing, participate in social and cultural events and network with colleagues from a wide range of international institutions.

Participation fee is 160€ and includes the programme,  two lunches,  coffee breaks and refreshments and a dinner at a restaurant in downtown Reykjavik. Please note that participants are responsible for covering their own accommodation and travel costs.

Getting to Iceland

There are two domestic airlines that offer year-round flights to Iceland from several cities in both Europe and North-America:

There are also a number of other airlines that have less frequent or chartered flights to Keflavik. It can be useful to use the Icelandic-based flight search engine dohop to search for air fares.

Getting to Reykjavik

The International Airport in Keflavík is approximately a 45-minute drive from Reykjavik. You can either take the bus, a taxi or rent a car to get to the city. A taxi can be picked up outside the main arrivals lounge.

There are buses connected to each flight from the airport in Keflavik to Reykjavík. You can buy bus tickets at the airport building. The bus fare is 2500ISK  (approx. 20 EUR). See

Taxi from Keflavík airport to Reykjavík Center costs about 16.000 ISK  (approx. 130 EUR).

Participation fee

Participation fee for the Staff Training Days is 160 EUR. The price includes: lunches on Wednesday and Thursday, coffee and refreshments, a joint dinner downtown, as well as the full programme. Please note that participants are responsible for covering their own accommodation and travel costs.

On Friday 12 May in the afternoon there will be an optional excursion at an additional 35 EUR.
