The University of Iceland has around 270 partner universities in Europe. Students can apply for exchange studies at these schools through the Erasmus+ or Nordplus mobility programs and will receive a grant for travel and expenses, which do not affect student loans.
Students can go on exchange to the Nordic and Baltic countries through the Nordplus programme.

Students can go on exchange to European Union member states as well as to Norway and Turkey through the Erasmus+ programme.
Erasmus+ partner universities of the University of Iceland
- Students can also apply for exchange studies in Switzerland and recieve a grant from the Swiss government comparable to that of the Erasmus+ grant.
Students who wish to apply for exchange studies in Russia shall follow the same process as if applying to countries outside of Europe.
