Research

Research at the Faculty of Physical Sciences is carried out under the auspices of the UI Science Institute. A diversity of theoretical and practical research projects are carried out, to the betterment of Icelandic and international society. An emphasis is placed on publishing research results in the form of peer-reviewed articles in recognised academic journals domestically and internationally.

Research in mathematics

The Mathematics Division at the Science Institute is the venue for research in mathematics at the University of Iceland. Topics are diverse and can be divided into three categories:

Research in physics

The Physics Division at the Science Institute is the venue for research in physics at the University of Iceland.

  • Solid State Physics and Nanophysiscs
  • Astrophysics
  • String- and Quantum Field Theory

Research in chemistry

The Chemistry Division at the Science Institute is the venue for diverse fundamental research into theoretical chemistry, physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry and organic chemistry.
