LögbergThe Faculty of Law at the University of Iceland has the goal of serving the whole of society rather than focusing on specific aspects. In accordance with this, the faculty places emphasis on research touching on most aspects of law, and thereby being useful to as many as possible. The research productivity of faculty lecturers has for several years been at the forefront of faculties at the University of Iceland. It is therefore no coincidence that the majority of study materials used in courses at law faculties in Iceland are written by lecturers at the Faculty of Law in the University of Iceland.

Research institutes run by the Faculty of Law are the Institute of Law and the Institute of Human Rights.
