The goal of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies is to carry out exceptional research. The faculty wants to bolster research activities, which are comparable with theology and religious studies on an international scale. The faculty’s lecturers are very active in research.

The faculty serves Icelandic society by bolstering research in the fields of theology and religious studies, fully in line with international standards. The main emphasis in the research of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies is to research the relationship between religion and history, culture and society, and collaborate with other scientific disciplines.
