Taught in the autumn semester the postgraduate diploma programme (30 ECTS) in Small States Studies: Small States in Europeoffers a detailed study of small state theories. Special attention is devoted to the Nordic states and their reactions to European integration and small states in the European Union.
The diploma consists of four courses in the autumn semester, starting at the end of August and finishing in mid December, and is open to all students who have completed their undergraduate studies.
The MA programme inWest Nordic Studies: Governance and Sustainable Management is a multidisciplinary Master’s Programme (120 ECTS) offered jointly by the University of Akureyri, Iceland, the University of Greenland, the University of the Faroe Islands, the University of Iceland and the University of Nordland, Norway.
The programme includes studies in home universities, a joint intensive course at the University of Akureyri, studies
completed at other partner universities and a Master’s thesis. The students at the Univerity of Iceland are able to choose between two specialisations; Environment and Natural Resources in the High North, and Small States and Societies.
