"Could We Bring Our Offspring To Your Class?“ Our Peer Tutoring Program Helped Secondary School Students Make Better Choices
Rado Masaryk, assistant professor, Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia
Abstract: The presentation discusses the program we devised to help secondary school students (age 15–18) perform better in school and focus on their academic path beyond graduation. The key element was the peer tutoring scheme when university students, majoring in psychology, introduced secondary school students to life at universities. The project was evaluated using several quantitative and qualitative methods. Results indicate that this approach may help secondary school students better consider future consequences which will hopefully help them make better choices. We are currently investigating possibilities how to extend the project to improve information handling.
