This is one of our more popular tours each year where participants examine what lurks in the leaves! Insects are without a doubt the most diverse animals on earth and have increased in number in the last few years in Iceland for various reasons. Lise Anne Libungan, Biologist at the Marine Reserach Institute, guides a hike in Elliðaárdalur where we will take a peek into the world of insects.

The hike will take approximately two hours. Hikers are encouraged to bring a magnifying glass and a container.

The tour is a collaboration between the Icelandic Touring Association and the University of Iceland combines the experience and knowledge of the tour guides with the knowledge of academics at the University of Iceland. The aim is to create interest in science and outdoor activities with this welcome alternative.

Participation is free of charge and everyone is welcome.
